Addis Ababa and Djibouti have won the honor to be global examples in the tourism and cultural world for 2020.On the venue of the same world tourism gathering the WORLD TOURISM DAY 2020 theme was decided to be Tourism: Building Peace! Fostering knowledge!

The theme is destined not only to enliven tourism during 2020, but also to emphasize that tourism must be used as a base for fostering friendship among nations, building peace and supporting cross-border cooperation and development of tourism projects.

Tourism must be used as a tool to bring peoples and cultures and religions together in building prosperity and development and giving nations a way to rebuild bridges of friendship, in fostering common knowledge and appreciation of cultural and tourism potential and in offering cooperation opportunities in large tourism projects ( Professor Dr. Anton Caragea-ECTT President.

Tourism must also be organized in such a manner to foster cultural values to be preserved and knowledge about history and culture, to support raising awareness on historical monuments and to help to acquire the financial support necessary for historical preservation activities situated in disputed lands and borders.

Tourism and peace are inseparable, are growing from the same tree: the sapling of culture and civilization.

Peace and safety are at the root of tourism development and tourism must feed and nurture peace and cooperation as leaves are feeding the tree, said Professor Dr. Anton Caragea-global tourism president.

The next year celebration for World Tourism Day will take place in 27/28 September 2020, placing under the spotlight the peace and knowledge as an integral part of tourism growth and role in the sustainable development goals agenda.
