The film starts off on a chilling note with a frantic man struggling to escape a sinister presence in the forest. Shyamalan effectively conveys a sense of foreboding in the opening sequence and maintains a similar level of tension in the first half of the movie. The plot follows Mina, a pet shop employee in Ireland, who gets lost in the woods while delivering a bright yellow parrot named "Darwin" to a customer after her car breaks down on Flixtor.
