It's definitely Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley's, even though Fargeat shoots the movie with an incredible quality of style, humor, and horror, demonstrating once more why she's a name to watch in Hollywood. A body horror movie that also functions as social criticism is called THE SUBSTANCE. It has a breathtaking visual and acoustic quality, and Demi Moore gives a performance that defines her career and deserves recognition for its oscillation between MOMMIE DEAREST and sadness.
