Kim Min-jae did not make the top 30 best players of 2023.
Score90, which produces soccer content, highlighted the top 30 best soccer players of 2023 as ranked by the British newspaper The Guardian on June 6 (KST).
The publication ranked Elling Holland (Manchester City), Judd Bellingham (Real Madrid), Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), and Rodri (Manchester City) at the top. Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), and Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) rounded out the list.
Tottenham Hotspur and South Korea national soccer team captain Son Heung-min was ranked 24th. After a slow start to last season due to a sports hernia and a facial injury, he returned to form in the second half of the season with nine goals and four assists.
This season, he's looking like himself. Under new Spurs boss Enze Postecoglou, he's been playing up front. His goal-scoring streak began with a hat-trick against Burnley in the fourth round. In 21 appearances, he has 12 goals and five assists.
However, there were some things that were a little hard to understand. Kim Min-jae, who plays for Bayern Munich this season, didn't make the top 30.
Last season, Kim Min-jae was incredible. He led Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years with his defensive prowess. At the end of the season, he was named Serie A's best defender. He was also named to the Serie A Team of the Year.
After his move to Munich, he continued to contribute to the defense, earning a regular spot in the starting lineup. He scored his debut goal against Stuttgart in the 15th round, helping the team to a clean sheet.
He was nominated for several awards for his performance in 2023. Kim Min-jae is the first Asian defender to be nominated for the Ballon d'Or. He was the highest-ranked defender nominated (22nd). In October, Kim was named International Player of the Year at the 2022 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Awards.
The program was also well received by international media. "We identify the best players in the world in every age group, from 16 to 36," said ESPN, "and we'll look at how much better they are than other players in their position, how valuable they are, and so on." ESPN evaluated the players by dividing them by their age, not by the year they were born.
This is how Kim was selected. "It was a tough choice, but we're going with the only 26-year-old who can reasonably be considered the best in the 토토사이트 world," ESPN said, "Frankie Douglas and Nicolo Varela are both modern central midfielders who thrive on attacking duties. Both are more of a supportive role than a game-changer."
"Kim Min-jae is in his second season in Europe's top five leagues. It might be overestimating his performance at Napoli last season. But we chose the possibility that he could become one of the best central defenders in the world within the next five years."
Despite this, he didn't make the Guardian's top 30 list. Only Man City's Javeng Dias and John Stones made the top 30 for defenders. Kim Min-jae was ranked 37th.
