Description
Macau International Airport (pictured), Macau's only aviation hub, is likely to have handled a total of 1.76 million passenger throughput in the first quarter of this year. If the forecast materializes, it will grow 1.3 times year-over-year, with volume expected to recover about 75% compared to the same quarter of 2019, the period before the COVID-19 pandemic.
This follows a press statement on Wednesday from Macau International Airport Co Ltd, the facility operator also known as the Portuguese acronym CAM.
In terms of flight movement, the recovery rate in the first quarter compared to the same period in 2019 was 76%, recording 14,000 flight movements.
Currently, most of the flight routes from Macau Airport are serving destinations in mainland China. 무료슬롯사이트
CAM aimed to introduce a greater number of flights "connecting" to "direct" international services or "medium and long-haul" services from elsewhere to allow Macau's aviation hub to expand its "global reach," the company said.
"China Southern Airlines will begin operations on the Beijing Daxing-Makau route on April 1, 2024 and will support transferring passengers from Macau to Russia via Beijing Daxing [International Airport] via checked baggage service."
Cam also mentioned that Korean Air plans to launch services from Macau to the Korean capital of Seoul in July this year. These services will offer the possibility of connecting with Korean Air's network service destinations in Europe and the United States.
