Description

Every April 23, the book takes a leading role in the world of letters, as its international day is celebrated with the presentation speech, as well as authors. Undoubtedly, throughout history, much has been the literature that has marked a before and after. In the five continents, great writers of the stature of Homer, Shakespeare, or Miguel de Cervantes have left a great legacy to humanity with their works. But do you know what other books are considered "the most read in the world"? Well, here we mention the most relevant.

What is the origin of this celebration?

To tell the truth, World Book Day had its origin on November 15, 1995, as a way of paying tribute to great universal writers such as Miguel de Cervantes, Garcilaso de la Vega, Williams Shakespeare, Vlamidir Nabkov, Josep Pla, Manuel Mejías Vallejo, among others.

It was through UNESCO that it was decreed on April 23 since on that date the birth or death of these illustrious figures of literature is celebrated. This was achieved thanks to the collaboration of the International Union of Publishers and whose aim was not only to promote culture and letters in the world but also to find a way to protect copyright property.
