As Johnny travels from space to space, Nash saves us the "30-minute vlog hikes" and abrupt cuts, without sacrificing the sounds of lakes running and mosquitoes flying In A Violent Nature on Flixtor. We follow suit with his movements. We are startled and uneasy when he kills, exactly like that. Joking aside, Nash deftly employs classic horror clichés in the forefront as well: there's our jerk of a friend, the outsider, the infatuated pair, and, most importantly, the "final girl." As previously mentioned, without necessarily giving anything away, Chris Nash presents the horror conventions from a fresh angle rather than trying to defy them. Kris, our "final girl," is the ideal match for this contemplative horror-thriller. Her benign demeanor contrasts nicely with Johnny's hideous one.
