As it continues to rehash the plot points of "Twister," "Twisters" introduces other storm-chasing teams, with Tyler and his group from Arkansas, the "tornado wranglers," vying for first place with Javi and Kate Twisters Afdah. Along with superior equipment, such as a truck that can drill into the ground for stability and a drone, they arrive with strong egos. Journalist Ben rides alongside Tyler for a feature article, claiming the Jami Gertz part as an overpowered outsider to the adrenaline-junkie society, and rivalry is developed as the teams start to race across Oklahoma. "Twisters" begins with a number of tornado interactions. Although they don't have quite the same physical attributes as de Bont's work, they are nevertheless incredibly large and detailed because CGI has advanced much since 1996.
