Description
Bess and Amie (two fifths of the ALU) are (at long last) out from under the doona and feeling inspired to head to Adelaide in April for ReAwaken, a juicy, critical 'mental health' conference that has promotional words like 'creating community & meaningful action to shift paradigms in mental health, trauma, and addiction ' and the valuing of 'experiential journeys'... sounds like our kind of gig <3
But inter-city travel to conferences is a kind of expensive undertaking for two partially employed, full-time affective labouring folks as ourselves, so we're holding this fundraiser event to help get us there :)
We very much see our attending ReAwaken as a contribution to building our internal and external resources to continue on our Affective Labouring careers, not least in our capacity to share those learnings with the Canberra community upon return (somewhat more than we have been this past while!).
So please join us for a screening of CRAZYWISE, with a circle afterwards to connect and explore our emergent feelings and thoughts.
Crazy...or wise? The traditional wisdom of indigenous cultures often contradicts modern views about a mental health crisis. Is it a ‘calling’ to grow or just a ‘broken brain’? The documentary CRAZYWISE explores what can be learned from people around the world who have turned their psychological crisis into a positive transformative experience.
We'll be taking cash on the door but please register your intent to join here so that we can track numbers!
