You are invited to provide your perspective on strategies to improve connection to nature for children and families in Louisville on Monday, June 20th and Tuesday, June 21st at the TARC Boardroom (1000 West Broadway, 40203). As part of Louisville’s recent planning grant awarded by the National League of Cities Connecting Children to Nature initiative, we are hosting discussion sessions to explore broad strategies for how improved access to nature can impact green-facing jobs, improvements in health and wellness, and education attainment key Louisville neighborhoods. Our primary focus in on improving access for residents of low-income communities and communities of color in Louisville.
Please join other community leaders and stakeholders as we explore the topics of 1) capacity building (e.g., creating cradle to career opportunities for children in nature-related fields; developing local capacity for volunteering/mentoring; 2) policy development (e.g., incorporating nature play into community plans and standards; improving multi-model access to nature, program evaluation; and 3) network/partnership development (e.g., exploring improve cooperation among local organizations for collective impact).
