Churchill Downs Corporation today announced that the Indiana Gaming Commission has selected a casino owner's license application submitted by its wholly owned subsidiary, CDITH, LLC, to develop Terre Hauty Casino Resort in Vigo County, Indiana. IGC voted unanimously to grant CDITH its only certificate of conformity under the Competition Proposal process, which includes applications from three other bidders.
"I am excited and honored by the Indiana Gaming Commission for its trust in CDI and our initiative to attract a true destination casino resort in West Central Indiana," said Bill Carstanjen, CEO of CDI.
CDI's plans include a $240 million investment that will include 1,000 slot machines, 50 table games, 125-room luxury hotels, state-of-the-art Twin Spires sportsbooks and several food and beverage products. The concept and design features of the approximately 400,000 sq ft queen ter haute development will reflect the unique heritage of Vigo County and its surrounding areas.
"Going forward, we look forward to continuing our collaboration with local officials in Vigo County and the Indiana Gaming Commission as we work to turn our vision of Terre Haute's queen into a reality," said Jason Sauer, senior vice president of CDI.
IGC will formally award CDITH a casino owner's license to operate an inland casino in Vigo County following a final confirmation of the pending renewal of the previous license holder. All Commission regulations, resolutions, and orders apply to certificates of conformity and future licenses.
