Description
Historical Significance of Cannabis
The cannabis can trace its origins since the ancient times. There have been extensive evidence that suggests it had been in use more than 5,000 years ago in what is now Romania. One direct source of evidence was the presence of Δ6-tetrahydrocannabinol [Δ6-THC] in ashes which suggests that cannabis was first used medicinally around 400 AD. In the United States, it was widely used as a patent medicine around the 19th and early 20th centuries. The description was found in the United States Pharmacopoeia for the first time in 1850. In 1937, federal restriction of cannabis use and cannabis sale occured after the passage of the Marihuana Tax Act.
