Description

Arizona Diamondbacks Merrill Kelly (35) displayed a fantastic pitch in his World Series debut.

Kelly started Game 2 of the World Series at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas on the 29th, and recorded a victory with three hits (one homer) and nine strikeouts and one run in seven innings.

Kelly, who showed perfect pitching until the third inning, was hit by Evan Carter with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning, ending his perfect pitching. However, he caught Adolis Garcia with a fly ball to right field and finished the inning without any major crisis.

In the fifth inning with Arizona leading 2-0, Kelly threw a three-pitch 93.3 mph (150.2 km) sinker to leadoff hitter Mitch Garber and allowed a solo home run. With two outs, Josh Young had a hit, but Leodi Taveras was grounded out by a pitcher and did not allow any additional runs.

Kelly, who struck out all the top batters leading to Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, and Carter in the sixth inning, neatly blocked the centerline leading to Garcia, Garber, and Jonah Haim with three outs in the seventh inning.

In the eighth inning with Arizona leading 7-1, he handed over the mound to Andrew Sall and finished taking the mound on the day. Arizona won the game 9-1 and avenged the loss of the first extra-inning.
Kelly, who recorded 89 pitches, blocked the Texas lineup by using various pitches, including changeups (22 pitches), cutters (21 pitches), four-seam (17 pitches), sinkers (15 pitches), sliders (10 pitches), and curves (4 pitches). His maximum speed was 94.3 miles (151.8 kilometers).

Kelly, who played in 119 games (729 ⅔ innings) with 48 wins, 32 losses and a 3.86 ERA in the KBO League SK (currently SSG) from 2015 to 2018, is a representative "KBO reverse export" success story that succeeded in the Major League based on his performance in Korea.

Kelly, who has been a major starting pitcher for Arizona since 2019, has a career-high 127 games (750 ⅔ innings) in the Major League with 48 wins, 43 losses and a 3.80 ERA. This year, Arizona will take the fall baseball stage for the first time as it advances to the postseason. 토토사이트

In his first postseason, Kelly is doing more than 100 percent well in his role. In four games (24 innings), he recorded 3 wins, 1 loss, and an ERA of 2.25, showing a pitch that was not insufficient to hear the word "Autumn Aces." Kelly also played in Korea with a 2.19 ERA in two games (12 ⅓ innings) in the 2018 Korean Series, when SK won.

In addition to Kelly, players who played in both the Korean Series and the World Series in history included Carlos Baerga (second place in the 1995 Cleveland World Series, second place in the 2001 Samsung Korean Series), Ryu Hyun-jin (second place in the 2006 Hanwha Korean Series, second place in the 2018 Dodgers World Series), Yasiel Puig (second place in the 2017-2018 Dodgers World Series, second place in the 2022 Kiwoom Korean Series), and Juan Lagares (second place in the 2015 Mets World Series, and the 2022 SSG Korean Series). However, no player has won both the Korean Series and the World Series.
Attention is focusing on whether Kelly, who made a one-win and one-loss World Series with outstanding pitching, will be the first player to win both the Korean Series and the World Series.
